I played out the entire drawing in pencil first and then went back over top with a thin sharpie. I planned on going back on Thursday but it was raining the entire time I had free. I love the view of this drawing.

#12 Draw a Person Sitting in a Chair

I drew a girl I work with while she sat and looked at her phone. I enjoy drawing people, but I left out her hands because I am awful ant drawing hands tiny! I like trying to get the body to look natural and realistic in the sense that everything is proportional and nothing is bending in a strang way. I realized when I was finished that I forgot to draw the chair.

I drew this gazeebo in the park I live near. I think that the shapes came out well, but I don't know why I am having so much trouble with the shading in all my drawings. I don't feel satisfied with the shading. I am starting to think the mediums I am using are not working for me. I have charcoal sticks that I am going to use for my next drawing and come back to this one because I do think it has potential with the actual drawing.

#25 Draw An Old Person's Face

I love drawing old people's faces. I once did an entire concentration on old people because I love the wrinkles in the face. I think they are beautiful and fun to draw. This is my favorite old person, the Dalai Lama.

#32. draw a bicycle

In this simple bike sketch I was trying to make the front tire look closer by varying my line thickness like you talked about. I think that it had a good effect of making the back tire looking farther back. I think that it would be more successful at a more dramatic angel.

Draw A Cubist Portrait

I have never drawn a cubist portrait, and I think it is important for me to try because it could be such a fun lesson to do with my students one day. It is fun to draw body parts from different angles. I love that the eyes are usually different sizes and body parts look like they are being shown from different angles. I think it could also be a way to challenge kids to think about how our eyes, nose, or mouth look from the side versus the front.

#14 Draw Different Types of Trees

I did these tiny drawings of trees, which I think look really cute. I tried to use different lines to represent the different types of leaves.

I had an amazing weekend in Chicago, and it was extremely eventful and busy. (I got engaged!!) so since we had so much more going on than I planned, I drew the view from our hotel window. It walk actually  great view to draw because there are two very tall rounded buildings that we are sometimes referred to as the "corncob" buildings. They helped make the drawing more dynamic. I really enjoy drawing skylines with all the little angles and details.

Draw Bushes or Shrubbery

Although this is not specifically bushes. I focused on the lower part of potted flower I have, drawing all of the leaves. I love drawing plants because of all the interesting shapes and looseness.

I definitely think this sight drawing was a bit of a bust. I was very distracted and couldn't get myself to sit still for a long time and draw. I think it shows in my drawing that I am a bit busy and feel rushed to get a lot of things done. The positive attributes of this drawing is the sort of blue print quality it has.

#19. Draw Your Favorite Pet

Today's sketch had to be a very fast one, which was perfect for doing my cat because she always seems to move when I draw her away. I tried to focus a little more on an interesting composition for this one. I Think that it would look better if I exaggerated her back end a little more to show that it was closer to me. I don't think I achieved the angel I wanted. You talked about making line size variation. I tried that A little here but mostly putting more detail in the closer area, and ,making the rest very vague.

#57. Draw Your Favorite Insect

I decided to draw a carpenter bee because they have always been my favorite insect. Growing up they would always be outside in the garden, and my mom would tell me that I did not have to be scared them because they don't sting. I love their fluffy little bodies. I used the micron pen because I knew it would work well for capturing all the little hairs on the body as well as the delicate lines in the wings.

#56. Draw Several Eggs on a Surface

I chose to draw eggs, but alter it to one egg in its carton. I think that the carton, which was white styrofoam, was good practice for all the changing lighting. It was a very strange shape to draw, but it helped that I was zoomed in to one section. I like the composition of a little bit of empty space.

I took your advice to zoom in more on one area, and decided to draw this beautiful door. I focused less on its surroundings and more on the shadows. I think I am becoming more successful at getting everything I want to include down so that I look at the lighting and shadows to create a more realistic space. The charcoal works well to create very bold dark areas.

Fish Tank, 5/20/16

I drew this view of my fishtanks from the couch. I though it was good practice for the buildings because of all the straight lines and angles. I like the balance of straight, sharp lines and the curve of the globe and corals in the tank.

Today's drawing I chose to do my feet because it felt so good to finally be sitting outside after all of the very awful weather. I mostly tried to capture the shadows in this simple drawing of my feet.

Sight Drawing: The Lincoln Tea Room, 5/20/16

This is a building called the Lincoln Tea Room, located in the West Chester Borough. It is called this because it is where the first biography of Abraham Lincoln was written. I like this building because of it historic and patriotic look. It has cast iron and red white and blue flags hanging from the deck. I also really like the door that is located under the ground, which can look sort of creepy at night. I have not worked in charcoal since my freshman year of college. I was a little rusty at techniques but really like drawing with it. I think it will work better for larger drawings that I will start doing. It is good for looking at over shades of the building, to add large dark areas. 

#20 Draw a copy of a master's painting.

I do not often work in colored pencils, but I thought Vangough's color and lines was a great opportunity to practice. I actually really like trying to copy a famous art work, making the strokes and lines that they once made. it gave me more respect for the art and the work that went into it as well. This was sort of a fun little piece.

#3 Draw a Pile of Unfolded Laundry

Once I started drawing the pile of laundry, I found it to be interesting to look at as a line drawing. I find it interesting that you might not recognize what this is without the shading, where as if I had done a line drawing of the flower or chair, you would still recognize what it is.

I have a new found respect for those who draw architecture and scenes outside. I felt like it took me forever just to get everything played out on paper. I sat outside to draw this for about an hour and a half until I was frozen and needed to go inside. I am really enjoying trying to use a ruler and get straight lines in my drawings. I feel that is what lacked in any of my other paintings with buildings. It is easier to get straight lines drawing than with paint. By the time I had everything laid out for this, I felt like I only just began the shading. I tried to focus on adding the darkest parts because I was beginning to get very cold. I think this was a good start for sitting out and drawing. I focused on where everything in my composition lined up to, to trying to get a realistic size and layout.

58. Draw A Flower Close Up

I love to draw flowers, and often find myself doing it often because I have so many plants in my apartment. I like how this turned out because they are such organic shapes, that you have to pay close attention to detail for it to be the actual flower you are drawing, but if you make a mistake it will probably go unnoticed. I tried to put more detail in the flower I was focusing on and leave the others ones as more of a background. I think the detail size and composition of the flowers draws the viewer in.

Today was going to be the first day I went out to sit somewhere and draw. When the rain stopped I went out to find somewhere to sit, but then it began raining on me again. I decided to walk to my mom's house because I knew her attic had a window I could look out. The view was not as goo as I remember because the three filled in with leaves, blocking the rooftops you can normally see. I think that this was a good start for my observation drawings. It is harder than I thought to get even such a small "window" filled with so many details. One problem I face with pencil was that me hand kept smudging out all of the detail that I would have to keep going back to fix. It's funny looking at how simple the drawing looks, for how many layers it felt like I did.

#23 Draw an Old Chair

For today's daily drawing I chose to draw a chair in my apartment, which as an old out door garden chair. I really enjoy using micron pen for the daily drawings because it encourages me to draw fast and go with my instinct. Sometimes when i lay the outline out though, it can be little off, but I can't completely fix it because it is in pen. I would like to try one of my sketches in pencil first with the pen then over top. I like the loose lines of this chair, and I think the mistakes even add character.

65. Draw A Skull

I chose number 68, to draw a skull because I have a fish tank that is made from a glass skull bottle. I also decided to draw it because it is so challenging. There are so many shadows and highlights happening, that it was very hard to capture the skull as well as the fact that it is glass. Because of the strange shape of the glass, sometimes it is hard for me to even see my fish. I am not very crazy about this sketch because it looks so light, even when I was trying to capture those dark spots. I would like to learn to up my contrast more. I am glad I tried it for my one day sketch though.

For my fist daily drawing I chose form the list of 101 and one things to draw. the number one item on the list was draw a glass of water. So here is my glass with lemon in it. The most challenging part was deciding to draw the background or not. Because a glass is clear and has reflections, the background is involved in the drawing. I decided to draw a light background to capture the highlights on the class.  I also tried to capture the condensation on the side.
