I took your advice to zoom in more on one area, and decided to draw this beautiful door. I focused less on its surroundings and more on the shadows. I think I am becoming more successful at getting everything I want to include down so that I look at the lighting and shadows to create a more realistic space. The charcoal works well to create very bold dark areas.
